Celtic Women were eight points behind the league leaders Glasgow City last week. Tonight, the Ghirls have clawed back that gap to just TWO points!
In an extraordinary night in the SWPL, Celtic beat Hearts soundly, running out 6-0 winners.
But it was over at Petershill where the big news was happening. Glasgow City we’re beat by Rangers Women just days after being beaten by Celtic. Glasgow City thought they had stolen a point but the Ibrox club scored a 93rd minute winner.
It sets the up the SWPL for a grand stand finish. Glasgow city is on 68 points, Celtic women on 66 and Rangers Women on 65. It doesn’t get much closer than that!
There are six games to play after tonight’s ties where all three clubs will play each other before it’s all said and done.
Celtic Women play Rangers Women on May 4th. A game that will see one team come out as major contenders for the title. On the 11th May, Celtic take on Glasgow City. It really is anybodies at this stage! It’s also worth mentioning that second place gets a shot at the Champions League.
