Starfelt, who’s been called up to his national side for their games next week, felt sore during the warm-up, with pain in his hip. He was taken off at halftime after it was clear he wasn’t moving freely.

Had Starfelt been injured, not many would’ve been worried about a replacement stepping up, with the Japanese defender impressing in his three appearances for the club so far.

The Swedish national manager Janne Andersson stated that the prognosis for Starfelt ispositive and that he would not have called him up if he was not fit to play the matches against Belgium and Azerbaijan to play.

As quoted by the Daily Record, Andersson said:

“The forecast with Carl Starfelt is quite positive. He should be available otherwise I would not have called him.”

Starfelt will be hoping his club form will enable him to get a couple of starts under his belt for his nation, struggling to nail down a place in recent squads.
