Pundit Slams Beale for ‘Ridiculous’ Celtic Moment that Lacked Class

FORMER CELTIC player Frank McAvennie has branded The Rangers boss Michael Beale “ridiculous” after his antics on Sunday after the Hoops lifted the Viaplay Cup.

The game was great for the Celtic fans, but it was a nail-biting finish to the encounter, with Celtic missing a fair few chances while they held on to their goal lead despite the late push from their rivals.

After the encounter, the former Celtic striker believed that Beale and his side lacked class, marching straight up the tunnel after they collected their loser medals.

Normally, the losing side would show respect and stay pitchside while the winners lifted their cup, but after preaching about taking the moral high ground after the Partick Thistle match, respect was the last thing that The Rangers showed.

Speaking to Football Insider, Macca made his opinion of the matter quite clear, saying:

“Their manager has been going on about pride and doing the right thing and they did it all wrong at the weekend

“Walking his team down the tunnel before Celtic got given the trophy is just ridiculous. Not that the Celtic boys would have noticed but it is just a wee bit of class.

“Especially since the manager has been banging on about how they have class and do things the right way. It has left a wee bit of a bad taste.

“I understand the hurt but at least stay on the pitch until they gave out the trophy and then leave. You can’t set the standards and then after you get beat change them.”

It was a poor show from the Ibrox side after the full-time whistle, but it’s something we half-expected.

Showing no respect in the lead-up to the game, they showed their true colours as they marched down the tunnel.
