Ange’s Relationship with Celtic Support ‘Too Important’ – Aussie Pundit
Socceroos legend Mark Schwarzer has dismissed any talk of Ange Postecoglou heading south to take over at Leeds United.
The former Australian international who played the bulk of his career in the Premier League was quick to hush any talk of the Celtic boss considering the move.
When Postecoglou first arrived in Scottish football he was ridiculed but it would now appear that some cannot wait for him to get out.
He has been a revelation while in charge of the Hoops and due to that success has been linked to a number of jobs in the Premier League including Brighton, Wolves and Southampton.
Celtic currently sit nine points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a Viaplay final just over two weeks away against rivals Rangers.
Having won two trophies in his first season and experienced Champions League football for the first time he will have a desire to improve on that success as the Hoops are still fighting in three competitions and have the chance to break the record points total in Scottish football which was set by Brendan Rodgers Invincibles back in 2016/17.
Schwarzer has been a figure who has been in the media eye since Postecoglou moved to Glasgow having played for him in the international set up and the former Premier League winner was able to give three reasons as to why he won’t join Leeds United.
“He’d be an exceptional fit but I don’t think he’ll leave Celtic, if at all, at this moment in time. His rapport with the club and the fans is too important to him. I haven’t spoken to him, I’m purely speculating, but I don’t think it’s his style to leave in the middle of a season. If he does go, I think it will be done in the right manner and at the right time because that’s how he does business,” said Schwarzer speaking on [Sky Sports News].

“He’s achieved things wherever he’s gone, first in Australia, then in Japan, and now in Scotland with Celtic. He delivered with Australia too, winning their first ever Asian Cup in 2015. I really feel like, wherever he goes, he’ll be a success. At Leeds United, there’s a great case to put forward that there’s pressure. There’s fans demanding and expecting a certain level of performance. We know how passionate their fans are and how important it is for them to get back to the heights that they’ve shown over years gone by.
“So Ange would be a great appointment and someone who would take it all in his stride, and he would be well-suited to the way they have played football over the years and to take them to another level. But I don’t think this is the time for him to go.”
Postecoglou is a serial winner and it would really have to be a big job for him to get an upgrade on Celtic and the opportunity to win trophies.
