High Profile Celtic Trio in Discussions Over Parkhead Future – Ange Confirms

ANGE POSTECOGLOU has revealed he’s had talks with Celtic trio Aaron Mooy, Joe Hart and David Turnbull over their Celtic future.

All three men are contracted until NEXT summer, but it’s best to tie down any player they feel has the potential to be in the side longterm.

Joe Hart is 35 years old, and will be 36 by the time his current contract has come to an end.

David Turnbull has been used sparingly by the manager and finding it difficult to break into the midfield. Does the Celtic midfielder see his future elsewhere?

Aaron Mooy’s Celtic career feels like it’s just begun, but things can change quickly in football, we all know that.

Speaking to The Mail, Ange Postecoglou was clear it was about constantly assessing the players and their ambitions.

‘Yeah,  but it’s just about having  discussions with the players themselves. I need to know where they’re at, where their heads are.

‘Last year, we had Nir Bitton and Tom Rogic with a year left. It would have been easy for me to let them roll on for another year.

‘But, after  discussions, they felt there were other opportunities they wanted to explore and they moved on.

‘With those three guys, I’m constantly talking to them about their ambitions. I want to make sure that every step of the way we’re looking after the player’s interests — but also looking after the club’s interest, too. Every decision will be made against that backdrop.’

Celtic have a lot of work to do behind the scenes over the next 18 months. Decisions need to be made on personnel and plans must be drawn up to make sure the club are being proactive.

There are other players under contract for three years we really should be having conversations with already. A player like Liel Abada, someone who we shouldn’t allow to let his contract run down.

We need to maximise the squad we have here, have our best players locked down to lengthy deals so we can get the best price for them when the time comes for them to move on.

It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out this summer. Juranovic has already left and Giakoumakis is set to be another high profile Postecolgou signing to leave. There will likely be one or two in the summer.
