The newspaper reports that it was a bottle opener that was thrown at the pair as the Celtic left-back exited injured. He sat down and looked to have bother with his hamstring and was replaced by Josip Juranovic, which turned out to be a costly change.

In a statement from Police Scotland, they confirmed they were also investigating another incident which involved a Celtic fan requiring medical attention after a glass bottle split his head.

Confirming that they’re aware of incidents on and off the pitch, Police Scotland said:

“We are aware of items thrown during the match at Ibrox on Monday, 2 January.

“One man suffered a minor head injury after being struck by one of these items.

“Enquiries into the incidents are ongoing.”

Celtic has yet to comment publically on the incidents.

There have been similar incidents in the past at Ibrox, from shattered glass making it’s way into Joe Hart’s box and the Celtic physio requiring stitches after receiving a wound on the head.
