JOHN HARTSON branded the decision not to award Celtic a penalty at Ibrox as ’embarrassing’. Conor Goldson clearly handles the ball with his arms in an unnatural position.
The scenario which unfolded will be familiar to Celtic fans who have watched their side be on the receiving end of similar VAR calls since the introduction of the technology.
Once the replay came through on Sky Sports, there would have been Celtic fans confident the bhoys were about to get a penalty kick. Similarly, there would have been Rangers fans knowing they were about to see their side concede a spot kick. What happened next was incredible.

John Beaton wasn’t even instructed to go look at the incident at the side of the park. It’s inexcusable that the VAR official Willie Collum never even told Beaton to go take a look.
Hartson hit the nail on the head with his assessment of the incident and the game as a whole.

It should be no problem for officials to come out and explain their decisions. If they’re confident they stuck to the rules, then we should be allowed to hear the dialogue between the referee on the pitch and the VAR team.
We’re left wondering what is a hand ball land what isn’t It seems to vary week by week, team by team.
