‘Last thing that we all want’ – Celtic Manager Warns Glasgow Derby Officials

ANGE POSTECOGLOU has reiterated his stance on VAR and reminded officials the eyes of the world are on the Glasgow Derby.

The Australian has been left frustrated with the constant stoppages and the length of those stoppages since the introduction of the technology in Scotland.

During the game against St Johnstone on Christmas Eve, there were almost four minutes between a goal being scored and the referee confirming the goal was good.

St Johnstone players noted how those stoppages helped them get a much needed break from Celtic’s constant attacking and high pressing.

Speaking to Celtic TV ahead of the game, Ange wants to see the officials interfere as little as possible.

He said: “I am sure the authorities and officials are well aware of the magnitude of the game and the eyes that will be on the game.

“The last thing that we all want is to be standing around and watching an individual with his hand to his ear for too long

“That is not what people around the world are going to be wanting to watch.

“If mistakes are made in terms of decisions, I think we can deal with that.

“But ultimately what we want to see is a good game of football.”

Celtic’s game is all about constantly barraging the opposition. What we’ll see at Ibrox is the home side try to slow things down. Watch the ball boys be slow to react to Celtic players looking to get the ball back into play. Watch Rangers players stand in front of the ball at every opportunity when Celtic have a set piece.

They will try to stop Celtic any way they can. They’re best hope of a win is too get the Hoops out their rhythm. If the referees play into that, it could be a long afternoon.
