DAVID TURNBULL will serve a two-match ban after being sent off in Celtic’s 4-1 win over St Johnstone, meaning he’ll miss the trips to Easter Road and Ibrox.
After receiving a yellow card for his challenge on the goalkeeper, who received treatment on the pitch, it was rescinded after a lengthy VAR check. To the midfielder’s surprise, he was shown a red card. He laughed at the decision as he walked off the pitch.
Whether you agree it was a red card or not, he’ll sit in the stands for two games, with his challenge deemed serious foul play. Some of the still images are pretty damning, with Turnbull going in high.
The frustration for many Celtic fans is the length of time it took for a decision to be made. While the keeper was on the ground receiving treatment, there was no sign of a check taking place. It was five minutes after the challenge took place before the red card decision was made.
VAR was frustratingly slow all day, checking every goal.
David scored in the last Glasgow Derby earlier this season. He’ll have to watch on and hope his teammates do the business.
