Patrick Roberts Shares Brilliant Sunday Night Celtic Pic

PATRICK ROBERTS has taken to social media to make a rare post and it’s of the time he came face to face with now World Cup winner Lionel Messi in a Celtic jersey.

Roberts played for Celtic for two and a half years on loan before moving on to other loan opportunities.

The winger now finds himself playing under former Celtic manager Tony Mowbray at Sunderland.

The picture he shared of Messi and himself was taken in Dublin when the Hoops took on the Catalans in a friendly at the AVIVA stadium.

Roberts paying homage to Messi after the player won the World Cup with Argentina, playing a pivotal role in the 3-3 thriller that went all the way to penalties.

Patrick was a fan favourite and still thought fondly off by many supporters. Just before his permanent Man City exit last summer, Ange Postecoglou was offered the opportunity to sign Roberts for the Hoops but the Australian passed.

A reliable source telling CeltsAreHere, Ange didn’t believe Patrick was right for the way his team play. Roberts is an exciting winger who can get butts off seats, but he was also very injury prone during his time at Celtic. Playing in a team that demands so much pressing and running, it could have been too much for Paddy.

We like to see former Celts doing well and we hope the winger is a success at the Stadium of Light.
