Three Talking Points as Captain Cal Earns Celtic Three Points

CALLUM MCGREGOR was a standout in Celtic’s win over Aberdeen in the North East. His goal was the difference in the match, stepping up when he was needed.

Celtic controlled the game but struggled to break down Aberdeen, who had nine men packed inside their box. The players resulted in passing the ball side to side, waiting on a mistake from Aberdeen to allow them the chance to have a strike on goal.

After a few long-range shots and a few chancing going a begging, the Celtic captain stepped up to the plate, firing a shot into the bottom corner.

It’s no fluke that Celtic score late on in matches, with countless examples of it this season.

Here are three talking points as Celtic maintain their lead at the top of the SPFL

Callum McGregor is a top-quality player.

If you didn’t know any better, you wouldn’t think Callum McGregor is coming back from a knee injury. He was brilliant today, controlling the game. Something that is quite special about the captain is his ability to control the tempo of the match; he’s a truly special player.

He’s made the most passes than any other player in the SPFL this season, despite missing a huge chunk of matches.

Chris Sutton Was Right About Starfelt

Sutton wrote last week that Starfelt would be key in Celtic’s next run of games; he was right. Starfelt was left to defend one-on-one many times throughout the match and did so superbly. He was a rock at the back and didn’t let anyone past him.

Liel Abada’s Game Changing

The introduction of Abada changed the match, with the winger extremely direct in the final third. He posed a threat to the Aberdeen defence.

Working with Ralston on the right, they created some chances for the Hoops.
