Hugh Keevins Horrible Celtic Transfer Take

HUGH KEEVINS believes that Celtic should be pushing to sign Hibs defender Ryan Porteous, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

The Edinburgh club has confirmed that the Scottish defender won’t be signing a new deal with them and is free to talk to clubs in January and agree on a pre-contract deal.

The Clyde 1 SSB pundit doesn’t believe the Celtic defenders, bar Carter-Vickers, are good enough long-term and that Celtic should look to bringing the Hibs defender in.

He said: [Clyde 1 SSB]

“Although Celtic have brought in Kobayashi, I think Moritz Jenz is maybe short term rather than a long term at Celtic.

“I think Stephen Welsh is a problem being long-term at Celtic.

“I never bought into Carl Starfelt. So, Porteous, out of contract at the end of the season, you will get him for a very reasonable price if you were to go in for him in January.”

Bringing Porteous in isn’t a good move for the player or Celtic. Even if he wasn’t the hothead that he is who commonly puts in rash tackles, he wouldn’t get into the Celtic matchday squad. Carl Starfelt, Moritz Jenz and Stephen Welsh are all better than him.

We’ve yet to see Kobayashi in action at Celtic, but from what’s available to see, he looks like a decent defender who’ll be challenging Carl Starfelt for his place next to Cameron Carter-Vickers.
