Former Celtic Wonderkid Makes Big Step Up

Former Celtic youth star Ben Doak has been promoted to Liverpool’s under-21s even though he is still only 16.

Doak was given his chance to make his competitive senior debut for Celtic in a dramatic 1-0 win over Dundee United with Liel Abada scoring at the very end of the match

He would also come off the bench to feature against Rangers days later in the derby game.

Only a couple of months later, the 16-year old signed Liverpool with Celtic receiving a compensation fee in the region of £600,000 for the youngster.

He has had a fantastic start to life south of the border and has had a highly impressive start to the season both domestically and in Europe.

So far, in 13 appearances for the Reds he has scored seven goals and contributed five assists with majority of those stats coming in the Under-18 Premier League as well as the UEFA Youth League.

During his second start in what is now known as Premier League 2 he got the scoresheet against derby rivals Everton in a 2-1 victory.

At international level he is also impressing having previously played for Scotland at under-21 level.

He has the potential to go to the very top of the game and it will be fascinating to see how his career continues to progress.
