CELTIC Icon Shunsuke Nakamura has today hung up his boots after a glittering career that’s taken him all over the world.

The Japanese hero bows out of the game at the age of 44, finishing up his playing days with Yokohama FC in Japan.

If you were lucky enough to see Nakamura play for Celtic, you will know just how much of a gifted football he was and a set piece genius. The goals he scored from outside the area have gone down in Celtic folklore. The famous effort against Man Utd when Van Der Sar was left scarpering across his goal line to no avail. The league title winning free kick during the last minute at Rugby Park. Even his 35 yard strike from open play against Rangers is legendary.

The bhoy was some signing for Celtic back under Gordon Strachan and helped the hoops create some magical moments.

Nakamura played for Celtic between 2005-2009 before moving to Espanyol. Who knew in 2009 he still had 13 years of football left in him.
