Ange Postecoglou Reacts to Bernabei Display

ALEXANDRO BERNABEI made his first Celtic start in the league on Saturday as the Hoops fought for their 2-1 win in Perth.

The Argentinian left-back was a stand-out performer throughout the match and has really made an impact. He showed different sides to his game, especially in the attacking sense but was also strong defensively.

He showed his pace, and his overlapping runs brought a lot of joy to the Celtic side today. He eventually set up a goal, running by McCarthy to receive the ball before hitting a low cross to Giorgos Giakoumakis, who put the hoops in the lead in the 95th minute.

It was an impressive match for the player, who is surely set to play a more significant role in the coming weeks, with a lot of games to be played before the World Cup.

Speaking on the player’s performance, the Celtic manager said;

“I thought Alexandro did well.” Ange Postecoglou said as quoted by The Celtic Way.

“He got a bit tired towards the end but to be fair to him that was his first game of football for quite a while. I thought he showed the attributes we really find exciting. He takes the game on and is really aggressive with the ball.

“His defending is improving and he is a young player we have high hopes for. It is not easy trying to make your Premiership debut here. It might have been easier to give him that at home but I thought he handled it really well.”

It’s tough for Bernabei, Taylor has the spot nailed down, but undoubtedly if he keeps performing in training and in matches, he’ll get another chance soon enough.
