OLIVER ABILDGAARD signed with Celtic on Deadline Day, with Celtic describing the deal as a ‘year-long’.
It’s worded so as the Dane has been able to make an exit from Russia with ease, suspending his contract for the season using a FIFA ruling in reaction to the county’s invasion of Ukraine.
After this season, the midfielder will have one year left of his Rubin Kazan contract, meaning if the player wants to remain at Celtic, and the club are willing to take the player permanently, they’ll be able to get him for cheap, with the Russian club in financial difficulties.
Speaking about the player’s future at Celtic after this season, Ange Postecoglou said; [Daily Record]
“It’s not that straightforward but we’ve got him for this year and that’s what we are focused on. Come the end of the year we will see where we are and what the options are.”
A derby debut isn’t on the cards, with the manager confirming he’s not going to throw a player into the squad after just one training session.
It happened last season, with many players not even getting the chance to train with the boys, and they had already made their Celtic debut, but with the strength of the squad Ange now has, he’s in no rush to hurry players into the team.
