Ex-Ibrox Man Warns Celtic Over VAR

With VAR set to be introduced to Scottish football later this season, former Scotland international Alan Hutton has warned that Joe Hart must be “very careful” when the technology is introduced.

Celtic deserved their victory over Ross County at the weekend but those from quarters outside Celtic have highlighted an incident which could have had an impact on the game.

Hart pulled off a huge save to keep the Scottish champions in the game with the scoreline tied at 1-1 when he got down to his left-hand side to pull off a great stop from a free-kick.

If VAR had been in place, it wouldn’t really of came as a shock to any Celtic fan had a penalty been awarded which would have completely crossed out the former England internationals wonderful save.

The technology was initially meant to be in place after the World Cup in Qatar but it was revealed last month that it was now being fast tracked.

“There’s always going to be aggression in football but you have to be very careful,” told Alan Hutton speaking to Football Insider.

“As soon as you lift your arms, while in the middle of a game of football, if the referee sees it you can be called back for it.

“Soon enough VAR is going to be coming into play, so things will be getting checked. I think a lot of it is nonsense but players will be running the risk. As soon as you raise your arms you’re asking the ref to make a decision. So in the future I think he (Hart) will need to be careful.”

Hart will have the chance to experience VAR during Celtic’s Champions League ties and will hopefully be a bit more careful about the way he goes about his business.
