Celtic have posted a graphic on the official Celtic FC Japan Twitter account which displays Ange Postecoglou holding a baseball bat with a watermelon wrapped in a Celtic away jersey in front of him.
The account has been a great success since it was created last July after the signing of Kyogo Furuhashi.
Celtic have did a great job of marketing the brand of the club in Japan with the club shop recently collaborating with Vissel Kobe to do a range of Kyogo merchandise.
The Twitter account is a great way of communicating with Japanese fans with tweets going out to suit timezones meaning news isn’t missed.
To try and reach this larger audience, the club has had to continually adapt to market the club internationally.
The aforementioned graphic was put out to mark ‘Watermelon Day’ which is described by journalist Dan Orlowitz as being a fake holiday.

It’s a marketing type event which is used to boost sales of a specific product.
The concept is common in Japan with the watermelon splitting being similar to a pinata except everyone is instead a winner as the fruit is then shared between everyone participating.
It’s great that the club are embracing Japanese culture and educating us all a little in the process.
