Boruc opens up on ‘intense’ relationship with former Celtic Star

Artur Boruc and Aiden McGeady had a very successful at tenure at Celtic Park together under the management of Gordon Strachan but it has been well documented that both players didn’t get on too well.

There is definitely a book in the former Polish international who has been opening up about his career since retiring from the game with the Hoops participating in his final match against his first love – Legia Warsaw.

It was an emotional occasion and it was great to see Celtic pay homage to Boruc with Michael Nicholson presenting the 42-year old with a gift.

McGeady has recently returned to Scottish football with Hibs alongside former Sunderland boss Lee Johnson and will no doubt come up against Ange Postecoglou’s team this season.

The story which has been well quoted that displayed the tense relationship between McGeady and Boruc was when they had a training ground bust up with the keeper refusing to dive for any of McGeady’s shots.

After words were exchanged the situation quickly developed with Boruc trying to swing a punch at McGeady until the pair were broke up by teammates.

Boruc has stated that the relationship between both was tense but believes that it shows how much passion and desire they had to do well.

“I don’t think that was just one time,” said Artur Boruc speaking to Football Scotland.

“It was probably a couple of times, we had quite an intense relationship, let’s just say that.

“Does it come from two people just wanting to win in their own way? Probably.

“Although Aiden was always a cheeky little… I don’t want to end that sentence!

“But he was a great football player and I think overall he was a good teammate and we achieved a lot together so I won’t say anything bad about him because I like him.

“I’ll let Aiden talk about it!”
