Legia Warsaw have been forced to cut the price of tickets for Artur Boruc’s farewell match with a poor turnout having been expected.
The club were charging supporters more money for this match than they were for Europa League matches last season which appeared to be one of the reasons why there was such anger from fans.
The Polish side had a disappointing campaign last season as they relinquished the league title and finished tenth.
More anger was sparked from fans when the club released commemorative clothes range to mark the occasion with it looking like Legia were just using this as a moneymaking exercise.
All of this has been met with distaste from the Legia fans and eventually the club u-turned on their pricing decisions with a statement being released on the clubs official website.
“Listening to the voice of the fans, today from 17:00 all ticket prices have been reduced by 20PLN. Tickets for children under 13 are available for 10PLN. All those who bought tickets earlier can get a refund of the price difference.
“We would also like to remind you that there is still a 30% discount with the new season pass. Come and say goodbye to Artur Boruc together with us!”
There is still a long way to go till the stadium is near full with it being believed that before the statement was released that the club had only sold just over 10% of tickets for the 31,800 seater venue.
The matches which Celtic have played so far in pre-season have been good tests with the most recent games being similar to what you would expect from a European qualifier.
It is hoped that the Legia fans will now support the game and give Boruc a proper send off which he thoroughly deserves.
Legia fans won’t have forgotten 2014 and if fans do begin to endorse the match the Hoops can expect a hostile environment creating an environment which should benefit Celtic before heading into the Champions League in the coming months.
