3 Things We Learned as Celtic Beat Banik Ostrava

Celtic dampened the party atmosphere in the sunny Městský stadion. After falling behind in the first half, Celtic showed their winning mentality, fighting back to emerge victorious.

Goals from Kyogo, O’Riley, Giakoumakis and Abada ensured Celtic ended their pre-season training camp unbeaten, with two wins and a draw, scoring fourteen goals and conceding five.

It was a brilliant game, with Celtic showing some great attacking play.

Captain Material

When Callum McGregor was subbed off in the second half, there was no doubting who the armband would be awarded to. Despite Chris Jullien and Yosuke Ideguchi being on the park, Tony Ralston wore the armband for the remainder of the game. It was a great sight, and nothing less than the academy graduate deserves.

Celtic’s First Choice Winger

While James Forrest started the match and bagged himself an assist, Liel Abada added something extra when he came on at halftime. He was more direct, wanting to take on his man and use his pace to get in behind. The Israeli was brilliant throughout the second half and was rewarded with a goal to ensure Celtic won the match.

Ange’s New Goalkeeper Instruction

Watching the match, it was clear to see that the goalies were further up the pitch than usual. It wasn’t a case of Joe Hart deciding to play near the centre circle, and Ben Siegrist was also high up the pitch when he came on.

When Celtic was on the ball, it was useful to have Joe Hart available as an option, but when a player was dispossessed, it was a bit heart in mouth with the opposition players attempting to chip the Celtic goalie.
