Celtic played their first pre-season game on Wednesday, with Chris Jullien named in the starting lineup by Ange Postecoglou.
The centre half even took the captain’s armband for some of the second half, after he added his name to the scoresheet.
Under Ange, the French defender has struggled for game time, with his only competitive appearance coming against Raith Rovers in the cup, playing shy of twenty minutes.
Since his return from his horrific injury, his lack of inclusion in matchday squads has led fans to believe that Jullien will depart Celtic this summer. He’s come close, with a move with Schalke entering the advanced stages but fell through after personal terms couldn’t be agreed upon.
Ange has stated that there is still an opportunity to impress to push his way into the Celtic side. Despite links to a Celtic exit, Ange won’t deprive him of a chance, just as he included the want-away stars last season.
The Greek-born manager said; [The Sun]
“That’s pretty much in Christopher’s hands. It’s about what he thinks is best for his own future.
“It was the same last year with Ryan Christie, Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer when they were here and doing the same sort of things in pre-season.
“I think if you ask those boys they would say that I treated them the same as everyone else, and Chris is in the same boat.”
Jullien’s Celtic Chance
With Starfelt ruled out for most of pre-season, you’d imagine that Jullien will be called upon.
There’s no doubting that he possesses quality, but he has to show this during pre-season if he wants to be playing football in Glasgow next season.
It’s a big chance for the defender, but will he take it?
