Celtic vs Wiener Viktoria – Three Major Talking Points

Celtic thrashed Wiener Viktoria on Wednesday night, marking their first pre-season game in style.

Postecoglou fielded a side that excluded his international bhoys who watched on from the stand.

He handed debuts to his new signings while giving others the chance to shine, with a few players grabbing the opportunity presented to them with both hands.

As Celtic dominated the match, scoring six times in the first half, here are three major talking points from the win.

Debut Bhoys

Bernabei pulled on the green and white stripes for the first time on Wednesday evening. Bombing up and down the left of the pitch, he looks like he’ll be an exciting player this season.

The left-back was influential in a few goals, assisting Johnny Kenny’s second.

He certainly had a positive game, but he struggled with the inverted role. This will become natural to the player with the more games he plays.

Siegrist also played in the Celtic colours for the first time but had a quiet game. The goalie was brought on at half-time and had nothing to do.

Both players will look forward to when Celtic play opposition of a higher quality so they can test themselves even more.

Jullien Bounceback Season?

Chris Jullien started the match and played well into the second half. The defender has been linked with moves away from Celtic, but if he can impress Ange in pre-season, he may find himself involved in some matchday squads.

He looked relatively solid, apart from a few slack passes. Again, he wasn’t really tested but showed signs that he was willing to work his way into Ange’s squad.

Scoring the goal will give him a confidence boost too.

I eagerly await his Instagram post.

Predominant Touchline Shouts

With there only a few fans in the stadium, the instructions of Ange and his coaching staff could be heard clearly.

Ange could be heard telling the team to be efficient on the ball, trying to get the players to take no more than two touches. Kewell seemed to be taking charge of the midfield, barking instructions at the players in the middle of the park.

Individuals on the pitch could be heard, especially Joe Hart; he was constantly ordering the team to push up and maintain their high line.
