BT Sports have lost the rights for the Champions League after gaining them in 2015.
Amazon is to take over the broadcaster, using their Prime Video app to showcase the games. [The Telegraph]
It’ll save fans some money, with a Prime subscription costing £7.99 a month or £79 a year, and includes next-day delivery for free on Amazon. When compared to a BT Sports subscription, it’s £16 a month for the sports package.
Celtic will have their Champions League highlights shown on BBC from the 2024/25 season after the television company won the rights to the competition. [The Sun]
It’s great news for fans who live in the UK, able to watch their team’s Champions League highlights for no extra cost. The analysis of the game should hopefully make it a better watch than the YouTube videos that BT Sport publishes after the matches.
The European-themed Match of the Day will be aired on the Wednesday of every match week at 10 pm.
