Benfica’s Major Jota ‘Regret’

Celtic secured their man on Friday morning, announcing that Jota had signed permanently with the club.

Throughout last season, he showed that he was a top player, starring on many occasions for Celtic. Watching the player, it was hard to believe the Hoops could secure his signature for just £6.5 million, a bargain of a fee.

Benfica is said to “regret” the decision to include the option-to-buy in Jota’s contract at such a low price. If Celtic hadn’t taken up on the clause, Benfica would be looking for a more substantial fee.

Sky Sports man Anthony Joesph broke the news, tweeting;

Jota’s 30% Sell On Clause Makes Sense Now

Fans were concerned when reports stated that a 30% sell-on clause was included in the contract. But after negotiating with Benfica, the Glasgow club would have had to fork out a lot more had they failed to accept the proposed sell-on clause.

It’s a bargain of a fee Celtic has captured him for, all things considered. Hopefully, he can positively contribute to the club’s title defence and Champions League journey.
