Celtic’s latest signing Ben Siegrist has previewed the prospect of playing under the lights at Celtic Park in the Champions League.
Despite Joe Hart likely to continue in his starting role, the Swiss keeper is still excited to be part of the squad.
While talking to CeltsAreHere on Wednesday, the new signing explained why he couldn’t wait to live his boyhood dream of playing in the Champions League.
“It’s a boyhood dream to play in the Champions League and to be involved with Celtic is really great.”
The highest level that the goalkeeper has played at in Europe is in Europa League qualifying. Considering the quality of player he is, that’s quite surprising.
Could Siegrist Use Celtic to get an International Call up?
Ben hasn’t featured for his national side since the under-21 level. Playing at a high level could help him break into the international setup. However, this would be extremely challenging for the goalie with Yann Sommer currently the first choice.
And, of course, to be in contention for a call-up, Siegrist will have to displace Joe Hart in the Celtic side. A tough challenge but one that the former Dundee United man will back himself in.
