Yosuke Ideguchi Situation Explained

YOSUKE IDEGUCHI joined Celtic along with Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate. The trio signed for the club during the January transfer window, two of them have had an immediate impact, while Ideguchi has to bide his time for a chance.

The former Leeds player started against Alloa and was impressive. However, after a horrendous challenge, he added his name to Postecoglou’s injury list.

Since returning, he’s failed to cement his place in the matchday squad, missing from the last few. The midfielder has had a couple of minutes from the bench, but nothing significant.

Postecoglou has insisted that the player still has his place in the squad and will feature in it more heavily in the future. At the Glasgow Derby pre-match press conference, the Celtic manager said; [Celtic TV]

“Ideguchi obviously hasn’t had much of an opportunity, which has been a bit difficult for him and for me because I really think he will be a strong contributor for us when he gets an opportunity.

“But, it’s just the way the games have gone.”

The team seems pretty settled at the moment, with Postecoglou unwilling to make too many changes in recent games.

Unless the manager gives fringe players a run-out after the league is secured, it’s unlikely Celtic fans will see much of Ideguchi this season.
