Postecoglou’s Eases Fans Nerves Ahead of Title Push

ANGE POSTECOGLOU has tried to ease fans’ nerves as his team push for the title.

This weekend, a win at Dingwall, followed by a win over The Rangers at Paradise, should be enough to seal the title for Celtic, but of course, this is easier said than done.

Celtic faces a tough trip on Sunday. On their last visit to Ross County, a last-second winner from Anthony Ralston in the 97th minute won Celtic the three points. Postecoglou will be hoping that this encounter doesn’t have to be decided in the last seconds of the game.

Speaking to Celtic TV, the Celtic manager admitted there’s going to be a sense of anxiety and nerves amongst the fans, but hints that he prefers it to be tight as it’s more entertaining to watch;

“Just like you’re beginning the ride on the scariest roller-coaster you’ve ever been on, mate. Hope that it all ends well but enjoy the ride and all the ups and downs.

“It’s part of the nature of wanting to play our football a certain way, be a certain kind of team. I don’t think it’s unhealthy for people to feel anxious or nervous. That’s why we love it.

“Some people will say if you guarantee us the next five games and we’re champions, everyone would be happy. But I reckon they’d be a little bit bored as well. The excitement of football and sport and supporting a team is that it is a little bit of that unknown, that we are on the edge.

“When you get the success that you deserve you’ll enjoy it so much more because you know you’ll have been a little bit white-knuckled a fair way through it. You’ll remember that. You’ll remember the highs and the lows.

“The last thing I want is our supporters to be flatlining, just to be clapping at the end of a game and then going home and not thinking about it.”

Ross County are in good form. They haven’t lost at home since Celtic’s last visit. It’s going to be a hard-fought contest for the Hoops. However, the news of Giakoumakis’ return and that the squad has made it through last weekend fine, except for Juranovic, comes as a boost for the Parkhead club.
