GIORGOS GIAKOUMAKIS revealed that he believed that Celtic was the best team in the league and would lift the league title in May.
Ryan Jack responded before the Glasgow Deby calling the Celtic striker ‘disrespectful’. Celtic then emerged from the Glasgow Derby victorious, and Giakoumakis’ words were a step closer to becoming true. The Greek forward player received the player of the month for March, where he announced that he stood by his comments.
Speaking about Giakoumakis’ comments, Postecoglou said; [Celtic TV]
“I don’t tell people what to think. The one thing I always say to my players is you speak from the heart and speak what you feel is the truth in your own mind.
“It’s not about just saying things that might please other people. If you’re asked a question be as honest as possible.
“That’s what I do and that’s what I encourage the players to do. Whatever they feel they should say I don’t think there is any harm or anything wrong with that.
“I know some people get carried away and think that by Giorgos, or anyone else, saying that he feels like we’re a ‘good team’ that people are going to use that as motivation against us.
“If that’s what people need to get up against us I think they’re missing the key to what we’re about.”
The Celtic striker oozes confidence and self-belief. He has also claimed that his numbers don’t satisfy him, and he wants to improve them before the season ends.
When fans learned that Kyogo’s injury would see him out for the majority of the second half of the season, panic erupted. At this time, Celtic was chasing The Rangers and having their star man out wasn’t ideal. However, after Giakoumakis announced that his season would start in January, he’s been banging in the goals.
He overcame a tough start with injury to become one of Celtic’s top goal scorers this season.
