Ange Postecoglou Hits Back at Referee Narrative; Absolutely Nails It

We’re going to sound like a broken record here, but Ange Postecoglou continues to hit the nail on the head with his press conferences.

The manager always seems to cut through the tit for tat nature and the medias thirst for a narrative.

The Celtic manager never buys into what the media are saying and he makes a point if not being led by any one question.

Asked about the standard of refereeing and if he thought Celtic were fortunate to get some decisions at Livingston, the manager replied brilliantly [Celtic FC Youtube]

“Officials are human beings,” said Postecoglou.

“I’ve seen players and managers make a hell of a lot more mistakes than referees this year, let me tell you.”

“It seems a lot of the analysis of games here is more ‘referee watch’ than analysis of the actual game,” said Postecoglou.

“Yes we got a corner we maybe shouldn’t have, but there are still a hell of a lot things that need to happen for us to score from that resultant corner.

“But it is very easy for people to look for those kind of things. If people think we are in our position because we are getting favourable decisions by officials then more power to them, we will just keep doing what we are doing.”

That’s the proper attitude to take. Ange making it clear Celtic aren’t at the top of the league due to any dodgy decisions but are there on merit.

If our rivals are so deluded to think otherwise then, yes, good for Celtic.

There has been an overwhelming about of nonsense after every Celtic win as of late. People discussing if Celtic should have had a throw in at one point, it tells me there are people scared of Celtic’s title credentials.

Celtic have had their fair share of decisions against them, Ange has never once attacked a referee for it or used it as an excuse. During the first game of the season against Hearts, Celtic had a legitimate goal chopped off and lost the game. We were told at the time these decisions would even themselves out. Now we’re at the business end, Celtic getting a dodgy throw in garners pages of debate. Go figure.
