The Athletic report that Celtic have had to ‘rethink’ their plans on handling their youngsters and have began an overhaul on how they deal with their talented young footballers.
The club communicates with the stars of the future a potential pathway into the first team rather than leaving them to second guess their future and what’s expected of them.
The club hopes that if the players are kept in the loop they will be more inclined to stay.
It’s hardly revolutionary but such was the fracture between the reserve team and the first team, so many talented young players felt they had to leave.
Ben Doak is the latest player to make it to the first team. At just 16-years-old the winger has already made two appearances from the bench and is attracting the interest of English giants Liverpool.
Celtic’s academy has produced some great players over the years, but fans have been frustrated with the lack of players graduating over recent years. Hopefully, a change is on the horizon with a manager willing to install his trust into young players.
