Jozo Simunovic Finally Finds New Club

It’s been a long time coming but Jozo Simunovic is finally back in football this week after signing for Croatian side HNK Gorica.

The defender was let go by the club at the beginning of the pandemic when Celtic and everyone else had to cut their cloth because of the uncertain road ahead.

Jozo had a year extension clause in his contract the club didn’t trigger and he was quickly let go once this season was over.

The centre-back had some special moments in a Celtic jersey but he was also prone to injuries. Something that has likely scuppered many moves he had on the table after leaving the club.

After 18 months out of the game, the big man is back and hopefully will get to show what he’s all about with Gorica.

You have to remember, Jozo is only 27. If the Croatian can sort out his injuries, he can still have a good run in his career before all is said and done.

He will always be fondly remembered at Celtic for two massive moments; THAT Kenny Miller tackle and scoring on the 67th minute, wearing the number 5 jersey on the day we paid tribute to Billy McNeill after his passing.

We wish Jozo all the best!
