Former Celtic striker Jorge Cadete will know a thing or two about being part of an exciting frontline during his time at Parkhead – with the Portuguese frontman playing alongside Pierre van Hooijdonk and Paolo Di Canio.
The former Sporting Lisbon and Benfica striker is now tipping fellow countryman Jota to kickstart the Celtic frontline, which will excite fans as Cadete insisted he believes it has been something the Hoops faithful have been missing in recent years.
“Jota is a very good young player. He belongs to Benfica and has a lot of talent,” as quoted by the Daily Record.
“But I really hope he continues to do well for Celtic, scores goals and helps the team achieve things.
“He’s exciting. The fans get off their seats when he has the ball. The Celtic supporters want that.
“They deserve to have great players in the team who excite them. They’re used to seeing good football.
“Jota is only 22, so he has so much potential and talent.
“I know what the Celtic fans like more than most players because of the time we had with Di Canio and Van Hooijdonk.
“It was exciting, and the last couple of years haven’t been like that.
He continued, saying: “Now they have Jota and the Japanese player Kyogo Furuhashi, so they’re getting excited again.
“I just hope it stays that way for the whole season because I want them to be happy at the end of it.”
Off the back of last season, where we were far from exciting to watch in all areas of the pitch, it has been brilliant to see some of the attacking football in the early days of the Ange Postecoglou era.
Signings such as Jota, Liel Abada and Kygogo Furuhashi have shown the quality in the final third. You expect there is still more to come too, especially when you consider that the three players have only been on the pitch at the same time twice now.
Hopefully, in the coming weeks, as the squad continues to get back to full strength with players returning from injury, we can see that front three become our new ‘Three Amigos’ and create memories of their own for Hoops supporters to remember.
