A report from the Daily Record’s Scott McDermott last night confirmed Yan Couto has his heart set on joining Celtic for this season.
The Brazilian has been linked with Celtic all window, and after taking in the Parkhead atmosphere from the stands on Thursday evening he appears set to join the Hoops.
Celtic invited the full-back to Celtic Park with the hopes of wooing him with the allure of European football and the Celtic Park atmosphere and it seems to have worked.
The 19-year-old will now plead with Manchester City to allow him to join Celtic with European football being a key decision maker in any deal.
He spent last season on loan at Girona, and the Spanish outfit have come back in for his signature and are offering a loan fee in hopes of pricing Celtic out of a deal.

Girona are also one on many clubs apart of the City Football Group, and Couto going to a familiar setting could also be a key factor in where the Brazilian goes. City have rejected an offer for Couto from an unnamed English Championship side, and the decision on his whereabouts this season should be decided by the higher-ups at Manchester City within the next 24 hours.
Talks between Celtic and Aurelio Buta seem to have died down, with the Portuguese right-back now linked with Braga [SkySports]. Celtic were also linked with Josip Juranovic of Legia Warsaw but talks have ended after the two clubs reportedly couldn’t agree on a fee. It now seems that Yan Couto will be Celtic’s starting right-back this season, and our chase for a key first-team position could finally be over.
