CHRIS SUTTON isn’t one to shirk from his opinions and he went full guns blazing at the board for allowing Celtic to be so under prepared for this season they were ’embarrassed’ by West Ham at Celtic Park on Saturday.
18,500 fans watched the game from the stands and it started well for Celtic when they went 1-0 up through Callum McGregor, a good one on one save from Barkas keeps the Hoops 1-0 up and then Edouard should have made it two when Ryan Christie’s cross met the Frenchman’s head perfectly – but he headed wide.
After that, West Ham took control and never really looked back.
Celtic’s defence was all over the place, Soro was allowing easy traffic through the area of the pitch he was supposed to be covering and Barkas was worse than a man short the more the first half wore on.
Celtic put out a younger team for most of the second half and they didn’t do themselves justice at all. Ryan Christie pulled it back to 3-2 before West Ham would go and stick another three past us.
West Ham are a good side, but even in a friendly, Celtic should be much more competitive.
Celtic head to Denmark on Wednesday night in hope rather than expectation.
Sutton has blamed the board for the state of Celtic as he imposed Dominic McKay to get the wheels in motion – and fast.
"This isn't on the manager. This is on the board this whole situation, what he has to work with." 🗣️@chris_sutton73 on the situation inherited by Ange Postecoglou at Celtic 🍀 pic.twitter.com/jc1SVJ9h1Y
