MARK GUIDI has made comment about the recent links between Celtic and Aaron Mooy.
The player’s name has come up as a potential Celtic target since Ange Postecoglou took charge. [RecordSport]
We’re not sure if there’s merit in the rumours or it’s just lazy journalism – linking Ange with Australian players.
Mooy is on big money in China, according to a SunSport report back in 2020, the player was offered 50kpw to sign for Shanghai SIPG. Aaron couldn’t turn down that sort of cash and left Huddersfield to play in the Chinese Super League.
There have been rumours of the player wanting to return to Europe but at £50kpw wages, that certainly wouldn’t be Celtic.
Discussion of Aaron potentially moving to Celtic made it onto the airwaves of Go Radio. They discussed the merits of the deal.
Mark Guidi gave his opinion and believed if Celtic could do a deal to bring the attacking midfielder to Celtic – it could make a big impact on the Hoops season.
“He’s a good player. I remember him a little bit from his time at St Mirren when Gus MacPherson might have had him. He was on loan there.” Mark Guidi told GO Radio.
“He was part of that kind of that Man City group where they had him and he was a promising player and they sent him out on loan a couple of times.
“Really good at Huddersfield, Huddersfield were in the Premier League, so he was really good there. I think it was David Wagner’s team.
“So more of an attacking midfielder. Likes to threaten and likes to penetrate. So, to be honest, if Celtic can get him, that’s a really good signing.
“That’s a proper first team, ready to make an impact, help you win the league kind of signing.”
We still think it’s beyond the realms of Celtic’s financial powers unless Aaron wanted to take a massive cut in wages.
