Who seen that coming?
Dominic McKay and Ange Postecoglou’s first point of business has been snapping up Leigh Griffiths for another year! Dom took over as chief executive on Thursday morning and by afternoon the deal was done.
Celtic refused to trigger Leigh’s automatic one-year extension which was written into his previous deal. Instead, the club have renegotiated with the striker who appears happy to bet on himself with just a one-year deal.
Leigh could have got a two or even three-year deal elsewhere but he’s chosen to stay at Celtic Park and prove a lot of people wrong.
Celtic confirm @Leighgriff09 has signed a one-year deal.

There was doubts Celtic would keep the player on, but the fact we’re light in a number of areas – Leigh’s deal might have come out of neccesity to a certain degree.
The striker has not been a valuable asset to Celtic for a long time – his prolific season under Deila a long and distant memory at this point.
Can the forward provide something to this squad? Absolutely, but can he be our star striker next season? I have my doubts.
Leigh works best when he has something to prove so let’s see what he’s got.
