Journalist Ekrem Konur has claimed Celtic have made an ‘official offer’ for French defender Valentin Rosier.

The journalist initially claimed the French right back was set for Marseille with a deal being thrashed out between the French club and Sporting Lisbon at the weekend.

Ekrem then claimed Celtic had come in with an official bid shortly after.

Considering the figures talked about here, it would be highly unlikely Celtic are pursuing a permanent deal for the player, if at all.

Celtic have only one recognised right back at the moment and that’s the much maligned Anthony Ralston. There have been rumours the defender is being kept on at the club for another year over the past 24 hours.

Celtic really need a suitable first team right back. Rosier, 24, spent last season out loan loan to Besiktas. The player’s future is away from Sporting Lisbon but is it in Glasgow?

The sooner Celtic start building a new squad, the better.
