Celtic have been linked with a move for Japanese midfielder Ao Tanaka, whose agent has also hinted he will be looking to make a move to Europe this summer.
As reported by the Daily Record, the Hoops are mentioned as a possible target for the 22-year old whose agent has recently spoken out about his future after handing in a transfer request to current club Kawasaki Frontale in the A-League.
“Both players have said they want to go abroad and we will try and do that after the Olympics.
“It can be difficult to secure a move, but I have a track record in making transfers happen.”
With Tanaka looking to make a move, it will likely have to wait until after this summer’s Olympics, where he looks set to take part in his home nation.
His current club also revealed that they had received an offer for the midfielder from an ‘overseas club’.
With new manager Ange Postecoglou’s knowledge of the game in Japan from his time there with Yokohama F Marinos, it will be interesting to see if the club makes a move for any players in the A-League.
Pre-season has now officially started, for the players, not no international duty, so you would hope that transfer dealings at the club are also underway in preparation for next season.
