Opinion: Eddie Howe Celtic Snub About to Make More Sense

Celtic left themselves in a vulnerable position they should never have allowed to happen, but from what we can gather, Dermot Desmond was so sure of Eddie Howe’s commitment to Celtic, he afforded the manager as much time as possible.

The majority shareholder was left fuming after the eleventh hour pull out by Eddie after months of negotiating and planning. We’ve been told by a reliable source Eddie had already started looking at targets for Celtic and discussing them with the hierarchy.

It all fell apart in the end with Celtic giving us their version of events.

However, the plot twist might have been hiding until now.

It was mooted over the weekend Carlo Ancelotti could be in line for the Real Madrid job and now it looks like it’s about to happen.

Why is this significant?

Carlo would be leaving Everton to pursue the job in Spain, leaving the door open for someone to fill the void created by the former Chelsea boss.

Eddie Howe is a massive Everton fan and if his reps have caught wind of a potential move to Everton being a possibility they’ve used as many flimsy excuses as possible to renege on a verbal agreement.

If Eddie ends up at Everton, Celtic have been absolutely played and the irritating thing is; we should never have allowed any one man to monopolise the position without signing anything.
