Duncan Castles and Ian McGarry were ahead of the curve on Eddie Howe not signing any sort of deal and not fully committing to Celtic earlier this week.
It seemed like a formality but the guys at the Transfer Podcast claimed Eddie was looking to stay in England and his willingness to move north was NOT something which was screaming out to him.
As CeltsAreHere understands things; Eddy actually committed to the job in a ‘good faith’ agreement where the club gave the Englishman the time and space to get his team together.
Celtic showed incredible naivety in pursuit of Howe, in the end, and have put themselves in an impossible situation.
Duncan Castles and Ian McGarry confirm Eddie strung Celtic along with no real conviction or desire to come to Scotland.
“Talks with Celtic have broken down
Apparently, the reason given, Howe’s backroom staff was problematic
However, as we have spoken about, we told you that Howe’s commitment to joining the SPFL side was always tenuous.
“He preferred to stay in England and that he preferred to get the Crystal Palace job, if not there then somewhere else.”
Celtic are now scrambling to find their next manager and have said they are in advanced talks with a candidate about taking the job.
Regardless of who it is, we now have a situation where another man will start from afresh with very little time on the clock.
It’s incredible a club the size of Celtic have allowed themselves for this to happen.
