Major Celtic Development on Colt Side

Celtic could be set to field a Colts side next season in the Lowland League.

STV Raman delivered the news which confirms the two Glasgow clubs are in talks to have a reserve side play football in the Lowland league next season as a trial.

This would be for one season only at first and would perhaps be revisited once the season is over and done.

The Hoops tried to get a side into the lower tiers of the SPFL but that didn’t even get to a vote among the top flight clubs because there was so much opposition to the move.

Celtic’s youth side playing competitive ties has been non-existent over the past two years and even before that, the reserve league was not fit for purpose.

At least getting a side admitted to the lowland league would get the Hoops young players valuable experience playing in a system not dissimilar to the first team.
