Dominic McKay’s Lennoxtown Visit

John Kennedy has opened up on his first encounter with incoming CEO Dominic McKay, revealing that he met up with the rest of the staff and squad at the training ground recently.

As reported by the Daily Record, Kennedy details that he and McKay’s meeting was more of a greeting than anything else, with no future details being discussed between the two which could point to the club making plans elsewhere without the current interim boss.

“It was just an introduction. He came into the Training Ground and met all of the staff. We had a very casual conversation along with Peter (Lawwell). It was more of a greeting and an introduction. That’s all it was.”

Asked if his future was amongst conversation topics, he added: “No. It’s very much at the moment the club is ongoing on how they are looking at things. Who they are maybe having discussions with and how they are going to do things going forward?

“So, we haven’t had that discussion in terms of what is going to happen yet. It is very much about preparing the team, go into the games and do that on a weekly basis.

“We’re obviously reaching the end of the season now, so things will have to be decided pretty soon I’d imagine, but the club will be working on that behind the scenes.

“He (McKay) is obviously a young, hungry guy who sees this as a challenge and a good step for him. There’s a lot of work to be done, so he’ll have to get his teeth into that quickly.”

Celtic fans haven’t heard much at all of McKay who began working at the club around two weeks ago. But is of course due to the fact he is getting used to his new surroundings and will not officially be beginning his role as CEO for another few months.

He has clearly got things underway though, meeting all of those involved with the club including the players and staff at Lennoxtown.

With no discussions taking place between both Kennedy and Dom McKay it does seem to point to the fact that the club is preparing for the future, possibly without the temporary manager.

The next few weeks will be crucial, so early on in McKay’s reign at the club with several big decisions to come.
