The news Eddie Howe is closing in on the Celtic job is no surprise to us. The Daily Mail broke the news this morning on their print edition.

Celtic have not approached anyone else in over a month so much so we wrote an article at the weekend we believe Celtic already knew who the new man was going to be.

Now it looks closer than ever, it gives great cause for optimism.

Not just because we’re going to land Eddie Howe, but because I believe he has known for quite some time he was going to take over.

It bodes well for any rebuild. We’ve heard for weeks about Celtic and Howe being completely relaxed about the deal. There’s absolutely every reason to believe Eddie has been running the rule over this squad from afar.

It would also be a safe bet he has been making moves behind the scenes to look at targets with a view to getting deals done this summer.

Howe is a massive piece of the puzzle and if we can announce this in the next few days, it will galvanise the Celtic support.
