Latest Celtic Deal Proves We’ve Not Learned a Thing

This afternoon, Polish striker Patryk Kilmala had his move to MLS side New York Red Bulls confirmed, signing a 4-year deal over in America.

Klimala spent just over a year at the club, joining back at the start of 2020. Now, we find ourselves in a familiar situation selling a player like Klimala and it seems to be a mistake we have failed to learn from

There is no doubting that the 22-year old was committed to the club, trying his hardest to make a career during his time at Celtic, coming back last summer in a much better physical shape to suit the Scottish league.

However, it feels like this move was never really going to work out for Klimala, simply due to his play style. He is a striker that will look to use his pace and play on the shoulder of a defender.

At a club like Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, those arent the sort of attributes that suit the strikers at the Hoops. They need to have different sides to their game and sadly, at this stage, Paddy did not have that.

It would be good to see him go and do well elsewhere in his career, as he is a talented player who can be used better at another club or league.

This is just one of many mistakes we have failed to learn in a transfer like this.

The scouting and recruitment at the club must be utilised properly going forward, especially this summer.
