Stephen Welsh Injury Latest

According to reports this evening, Stephen Welsh has escaped a long term injury and the player has only suffered short term bruising to his ankle after the 4-0 victory at St Mirren Park.

Welsh has been enjoying a run in the team but had to be stretchered off during Wednesday night’s game after a late challenge by Obika left him unable to put any weight on his leg.

Seeing the tackle again, fans were fearing the worst about the injury, Stephen’s ankle bent severely at the time.

RecordSport are reporting the player has just got some bad bruising and he will be assessed for the weekend. It would be silly to risk Stephen for the St Johnstone game, even if it has just been an impact injury, it will need time to heal.

The only issue is, we either need to field Nir Bitton or Shane Duffy, both options Celtic have used this season but have had their major shortcomings.

We’re glad to hear Welsh won’t be out long term at least. Let’s hope he’ll be back up and running as quick as possible.
