Former Celtic hero, Moussa Dembele has suffered a setback in his bid to finally make his debut for Atletico Madrid.
The player has been waiting to get in among the action since his loan move from Lyon during the January window.
However, as he was getting set to make his debut on Monday, the Frenchman has been confirmed as positive for COVID.
Our striker @MDembele_10 has tested positive for COVID-19.
He’s isolating at home, in compliance with the health authorities’ guidelines and the @LaLigaEN protocols.— Atlético de Madrid (@atletienglish) February 4, 2021
Moussa is set to make Celtic money this summer when the official permanent deal between Lyon AND Atletico kicks in. There is an obligation from the Spanish side to buy when the current season ends and Celtic will get a portion of the sell-on clause.
Moussa played two years at Celtic Park and was a revelation before heading out to France in a deal which broke the Celtic transfer record at the time. His fee was usurped by Kieran Tierney the summer after when the Celtic defender went to Arsenal for £25m.
We wish Moussa a speedy recovery from the illness and hope to see him firing for his new club soon.
