It’s deadline day! Rumours come and go almost instantly and it appears our first full cycle rumour has already been quashed.

Celtic were rumoured to be interested in Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga with the Hoops among three clubs looking to sign the defender on-loan before the deadline.

SunSport among other outlets are reporting Jose Mourinho does not want the player to go out on loan because Japhet is a feasible backup for his first team defenders.

Celtic are in the market for a centre-back and we wouldn’t put it past the club getting someone in before the deadline. However, who that person is at the moment is up for debate.

The club had their hopes set on Ben Davies who at the eleventh hour was subject to a shock bid from Liverpool and has since made moves to complete a deal to Anfield.

The Bhoys are not going to win the league but they are in danger of getting into a scrap for second place if they don’t bring in positive reinforcements.
