CELTIC face a fight to convince Cameron Harper to stay on this summer with the player seeking assurances first team opportunities will come.

The 19-year-old was thrown into the deep end on Monday after the club was decimated with Covid call offs. He didn’t have the best of games but considering he hadn’t played a competitive match in the best part of a year, his rustiness showed.

Harper looks like a top talent, if you’ve watched him play for the reserves before now, you’ll know there’s something there.

However, the player, like many in the youth team, is spinning his wheels. There’s not much else to do but train and development can be stifled by the lack of meaningful game time.

Cameron is in the final six months of his Celtic deal but wants to know what his pathway is likely going to be at the club before signing on according to RecordSport, a perfectly valid thing to ask.
