Neil Lennon has revealed that Celtic are set to add defensive reinforcements in the January transfer window after the injury news which broke yesterday that will see Frenchman Christopher Jullien out for the next 3-4 months.
As quoted by Daily Record, it had been reported that the Northern Irishman was already after defensive additions but now it has simply become a priority for the Hoops who are in desperate need and will now be without yet another defender in Nir Bitton who will be suspended for the next few up and coming fixtures.
“It is an area where we will probably look to bring someone in.
“He is going to be out for a few months. He has ruptured ligaments in his knee. Obviously, that was a blow coming into the game but I thought we were good.
“I was happy with the team, we had plans in place for later in the game but the red card changed that. I’m bitterly disappointed. There were a lot of good things to come out of the game.
“I hate losing, especially games of this magnitude and I don’t think we deserved to lose today.”
Despite the defence not being at its best so far this season, Christopher Jullien will be a massive miss for the squad.
In the last few weeks, there have been some signs of improvement from the big man and his presence in the air has continued to be there.
Although we may have been thinking of making a signing in this position before the injury it has now become crucial with our short numbers at the back.
Fingers crossed the club can complete a deal for someone within the next week or two but you wouldn’t be surprised at all to see this one left to the last minute as usual.
